Isuzu Trucks. Good Oneowners In The Small To Medium Size Market

Tuesday, August 12th, 2008

Isuzu trucks have been running up and down the highways of Australia for many years and have long had a reputation for being reliable workhorses. Today, there is a wide range of models available that are suitable for both driving around town or over longer distances up and down the highway.

The N Series offers a variety of models ranging from the NKR 200 4-cylinder turbocharged diesel through to the NQR 450 available in both medium and long wheelbase. The NQR 450 is powered by a 4-cylinder 16 valve SOHC direct injection turbocharged diesel engine pushing out 129kw of power at 2,600rpm. The transmission is a 6 speed manual synchromesh gearbox. The front axle has 3,100kg load capacity while the rear axle has 6,600kg load capacity. For the driver’s comfort, the cabin includes:

· tilt and telescopic adjustable steering column connecting a soft feel urethane steering wheel
· electric windows
· central locking
· two cup holders
· storage trays in the centre console
· air conditioning, heater and demister, and
· radio and CD player with digital anti-skip memory and optional CD stacker.

For those long days in the driver’s seat, the wide contoured driver’s bucket seat provides lumbar support and reclining adjustment. There’s also a bench seat that will seat two offsiders relatively comfortably.

For much larger loads there is the F Series range. The FVR 950 has a 6 cylinder, 4 stroke, 24 valve, SOHC, direct injection diesel engine that puts out 191kw at 2,500rpm. This is coupled to an Eaton Fuller 6 speed manual gearbox. The load capacity is 6,000kg for the front axle and 9,000kg for the rear axle. Inside the cabin, you’ll find much the same appointments as in the NQR 450 but you’ll get an Isringhausen full suspension seat for added comfort.

Isuzu make a wide range of trucks in the smaller to medium sized market. While most are medium and long wheelbase rigid models, there are also models catering to those who need a prime mover.

When buying used truck, including an Isuzu, you need to be careful about the treatment it has received, so you’ll want to check everything out thoroughly. Make sure that there have been regular services. It might be a good idea to find one that has been driven by an owner driver/oneowner as they are more likely to have treated the new truck properly out on the road and looked after it in the shed as apposed to a truck that may have been driven by a number of different drivers.

Afghan Soldiers Learn to Maintain Medium Tactical Vehicles

Tuesday, August 12th, 2008

The Afghan National Army met another milestone recently when 19 soldiers graduated from the medium tactical vehicle familiarization course held at the German maintenance facility.

ANA soldiers who completed the weeklong training will train fellow soldiers in their respective kandaks, or units.

“We have learned all the systems of the new vehicles. We will teach the soldiers in our kandaks driving rules and how to maintain the vehicles,” said Afghan National Army Pvt. Hassan, 26th Kandak, 201st Corps Headquarters, a graduate of the course.

The course will help with vehicle safety too, Hassan explained. “We have had many vehicle casualties in the last few years. What we learn and pass on from this class will reduce accidents and also reduce vehicle damage,” he said.

The Afghan army recently received 374 vehicles through a contract with International Trucks, and will use them to transport fuel, water and personnel throughout the country. International Trucks was awarded the contract to build a fleet of 2,781 trucks in four models for the ANA: a general transport truck; a petroleum, oil and lubricant truck; a water truck; and a recovery truck. The contract also addresses training the soldiers to maintain the trucks.

“These guys know what trucks are,” said Emmanuel Lepere, product manager in Kabul for International Trucks. “We’re focusing on modern trucks and explaining the new technology on these trucks. Clean engines, oil changes, maintenance are something new for them. The most important thing the instructors want the students to learn are the ‘dos’ and ‘don’ts’ specific to these trucks.”

Students learned general and environmental guidelines, a description of features, preventive maintenance checks and services, and operation of the vehicles. The course combined classroom and hands-on training, with emphasis placed on the hands-on portion, explained Lepere.

During the hands-on training, students crowded around their primary instructor, Danny Yao, International Trucks service and product engineer. They inundated him with questions and climbed in, on and around the trucks to learn as much as possible.

“The students are very inquisitive and willing to learn,” Yao said. “They are very hands-on.”

Lepere also was impressed with the Afghan soldiers’ approach to the training. “I’m most impressed with their attitudes,” he said. “From the way they ask questions and seem to really want to learn about the new trucks, I get the impression they really want to pull their country up. They have great attitudes.”

The long-term goal is to set up at least one maintenance facility at every ANA corps, with ANA and local mechanics maintaining the trucks at that level.

All about buying the trucks

Tuesday, August 12th, 2008

Various types of construction companies as well as other persons like contractors etc use to buy the dump trucks at regular intervals. All this is done to carry out the construction process in an efficient manner. When these contractors etc have to buy a dump truck, they have to visit some truck dealer etc that provide the dump trucks.

There are some aspects related to dump truck sale that have to be understood before a person goes for making a transaction related to the dump trucks. Most of the sellers of the dump trucks especially the web sites have the image of the truck displayed on Internet. It allows a person to have an idea about the used dump truck. In case of new dump truck, the image is also followed. In most of the cases, the price for which the truck is available is also provided there.  Since the trucks are used in the construction process, it is very necessary that all the functions related to different types of operations are fully working.

Such aspects must be related while calculating the cost of the dump truck. As far as the sale of new dump trucks is concerned, there are many benefits that are various types of dump truck manufacturing companies are providing. Thus, a person should take care of such aspects while going for the purchase of new dump trucks. It has also been observed in case of used dump trucks that the trucks bought from the various rental truck companies that offer dump trucks for hire are not in good condition. A person must remember in such cases that dump trucks in such cases need immediate overhauling and there may be good expenses that have to be made towards the repair of such used trucks.
